As a member-driven organization, electing strong leadership is an essential member responsibility. WFencing’s Board of Directors represents a diverse group of coaches, fencing professionals, parents, and athletes who believe increasing diversity among fencing professionals to unify Team USA, reduce SafeSport complaints, and increase participation in collegiate and club fencing nationwide are mission critical. Working together with the entire membership, the Board is dedicated to representing the interests of all members and leading WFencing as one voice for the betterment of the USA Fencing community. 

The 2025 WFencing Board Elections will be done by electronic means, beginning Monday, September 15, 2025 at 8:00 AM ET and ending on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:45 PM ET.  WFencing Charter and Lifetime members who have joined by July 15th, 2025 and have active memberships as of that date may vote. Voting information will be sent individually via email to enrolled members 8:00 AM ET on September 15, 2025.

Candidates for Election

There are four (4) directors to be elected. The candidates for election to the WFencing Board of Directors are:

• Liz MAYERICH 

• Heather SHANKWILER  (Incumbent seeking reelection)

• Irem ULKU (Incumbent seeking reelection)

• Kathy VAIL (Incumbent seeking reelection)

• Rich Weiss (Incumbent seeking reelection)

WFencing will hold its Annual Meeting of the Membership on Thursday, September 24, 2025 at 12:00 AM Eastern Time via Zoom.  Meeting information will be sent to all current WFencing members.
