The 2024 Athena Project Summer Camp: Mentor & Mentee Announcement
Updated: Aug 10
The Athena Project is a grassroots initiative summer camp sponsored and organized by WFencing and Northwest Fencing Center. The initiative is designed to support athlete development while including leadership and professional development of women and girls as fencers, referees, and future coaches in the Olympic sport of fencing. WFencing celebrates women athletes in the 2024 Olympics and applauds the progress made on greater acknowledgement for women athletes for their strength and power on the international stage. The Athena Project seeks to continue this trend by supporting the development of women athletes as well as the expansion and sharing of knowledge through referee and coach development as well.
Supporting this growth of knowledge, strength and spirit, WFencing is pleased to announce the 2024 Mentors and Mentees committed to working with this year’s Athena Summer Camp, August 11-17, 2024, hosted by Northwest Fencing Center in Oregon. This year’s camp boasts 19 participants from all weapon disciplines, including Olympians, World Cup winners, Team USA members, NCAA current and former athletes, and females at the top of their game. These are the powerful women that our fencers will work with, learn from and grow with over the course of the camp in August and beyond.
